CLDP's role in training governments and businesses on fair trade regulations has been critical in creating business-friendly environments around the world. CLDP provided WTO accession technical assistance to six of the first eight post-Soviet states to join the WTO (Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Albania and Moldova). CLDP also is working with the governments of Russia and Ukraine to facilitate their WTO accessions. In addition, CLDP continues to provide assistance to Moldova, Albania, Egypt, and other nations struggling to implement their WTO commitments.
In addition to our WTO accession work, CLDP also provides advice and training on regional trade agreements and assisting regional economic integration in Eastern Europe. CLDP does this by facilitating negotiations and the implementation of regional free trade agreements, and by supporting harmonization of laws, regulatory procedures, and dispute resolution mechanisms. These efforts create more open access to regional trading partners.
CLDP's involvement is often requested by a country through the U.S. Embassy within that country. If you would like to explore how CLDP can help, please contact a government representative and ask them to get in touch with CLDP through the embassy, or contact CLDP directly.
