    The Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) is a program of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of General Counsel. CLDP consists of a dedicated team of attorneys, program specialists and management analysts with fluent language abilities and a wealth of international knowledge and experience.

    CLDP receives funding via interagency agreements from U.S. Government entities such as the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).


  • With whom does CLDP partner to implement its programs?
    Agencies such as the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) work regularly with CLDP to conduct training programs and consultative visits. CLDP also taps experienced attorneys and economists from the public and private sectors as well as university professors to serve as advisors. Advisors are required to have substantial expertise in the subject of their assignment and knowledge of their host countries or region.

    CLDP currently employs staff who are fluent in English, Arabic, Russian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swahili, Lingala, Nandi, and Igbo.
