March 4, 2019 - March 6, 2019

On March 4-6, 2019, in cooperation with U.S. Customs Border Protection (CBP), the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the U.S. Embassy in Baku, CLDP will organize workshops for officials from the Azerbaijan State Customs Committee and the Food Safety Agency on Interagency Coordination in the Implementation of Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Measures.

March 5, 2019 - March 9, 2019

On March 5-9, CLDP, in partnership with the Royal University for Women (RUW), the Bahrain Center for Dispute Resolution, Mena Chambers Bahrain, and the Center for International Legal Studies of the University of Pittsburgh, hosted the 9th Annual Middle East Vis Pre-Moot at RUW in Riffa, Bahrain.

March 13, 2019 - March 14, 2019

On March 13-14, 2019, in Doha, Qatar, CLDP conducted an assessment of training and capacity-building needs in the area of public private partnerships (PPP). In coordination with DOC commercial specialists and a Department of State political-economic officer, CLDP met with officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), the Ministry of Public Health, and the Public Works Authority to assess needs and to determine receptivity to PPP workshops and other capacity building.

March 17, 2019 - March 20, 2019

On March 17-20, 2019, CLDP will sponsor delegations of franchising stakeholders from Algeria and Tunisia, including government officials and private-sector executives, to attend a workshop and visit an expo focused on international franchising in Paris, France.

March 18, 2019 - March 19, 2019

On March 21-22, 2019, CLDP and ITA will conduct a two-day workshop on public consultation best practices for approximately 100 representatives of Honduran trade ministries responsible for citizen participation in addition to representatives from academia and the private sector. Additionally, representatives from several Salvadoran ministries will participate to share their experiences in developing a framework for notice and comment procedures.

March 18, 2019

On March 18, 2019, in Manama, Bahrain, U.S. Ambassador Justin Siberell, the First Deputy Speaker of the Bahrain Parliament, and CLDP announced the release of a guide on commercial legislative research. The guide is intended to act as a resource tool for the legal advisors, researchers, and parliament training center staff to promote better institutional understanding and best practices on researching and writing legal memos for Bahrain’s parliament.

March 19, 2019 - March 20, 2019

On March 19-20, 2019, CLDP led two separate panels on new commercial laws recently passed in Bahrain. Participants at the roundtables included members of the Bahrain Businesswomen Society and the American Chamber of Commerce. Speakers included discussions on new laws that have received CLDP technical assistance, including a new initiative on government tendering in cooperation with the Bahrain Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (MOICT) to promote set-aside programs for small-and medium size enterprises (SMEs).

From March 27-28, 2019, CLDP will conduct a Workshop on PPP Fundamentals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  

March 28, 2019 - March 29, 2019

In 2016 Ukraine acceded to the revised WTO Agreement on Government Procurement (WTO GPA). Although substantial reforms have been implemented in a number of areas of public procurement, notably in the e-procurement sphere, significant challenges remain.
