Seir Khan

International Program Specialist

Seir Khan is an International Program Specialist at the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Seir works in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) team focused on a variety of commercial initiatives in the region.

Prior to joining CLDP, Seir started in the Department of Commerce in the International Trade Administration, Office of Trade Agreements Negotiations and Compliance working on Technical Barriers to Trade and Trade Facilitation compliance issues and regulatory negotiations with the Middle East and Africa. His experience in the International Trade Administration included a stint in the Office of Africa where he served as the Desk Officer for West Africa.

Seir received an MA International Trade and Economic Diplomacy and an MA International Policy and Development at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies focusing on U.S. trade policy in the MEA region as well as completing intensive Arabic at the Middlebury Summer Intensive Language Program. His internship experience includes a stint at USAID Prosper Africa Executive Secretariat during his graduate studies. Before completing his graduate studies, he served as a Volunteer in Peace Corps Guinea where he taught mathematics in a small village. He holds a B.S. in International Business and French Studies Minor from the University of Delaware. He speaks French, Malinke (Bambara), Arabic, and conversational Spanish and Italian.
