From July 27-28, CLDP, in partnership with USAID, led the Trans-Caspian Trade Route (TCTR) event in Tbilisi, Georgia, focused on improving coordination among the public and private sector representatives involved in the promotion of TCTR to identify viable multimodal scenarios for its utilization. The two-day event gathered over 70 representatives from Central Asia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan in discussions on rail, maritime, and customs matters to address existing challenges and identify solutions for regulatory and technical approaches for the acceleration of the use of the TCTR. As a result of the meetings, the participants joined forces to initiate the development of a comprehensive action plan that incorporates key regional recommendations concerning three modes of involved transport (road, rail, maritime) and customs procedures. CLDP’s TCTR project supports the U.S. Department of State’s C5+1 goals and objectives and is in furtherance of the Biden-Harris administration’s Economic Resilience Initiative in Central Asia.
