On May 2-4, 2018, CLDP conducted a Workshop on Transparent and Efficient Procurement in Chisinau, Moldova.  CLDP organized the workshop in collaboration with the Public Procurement Agency of Moldova (PPA) and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine (MEDT) with support from the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau. The program was attended by 65 public procurement officials from Moldovan government agencies and contracting authorities as well as a delegation of officials from Ukraine. 

Over the course of the three-day workshop, experts from the U.S. and U.K. addressed a number of issues identified as priorities by the PPA, including risk management, framework agreements, certification systems, and research and market consultation.  Through this workshop, CLDP supported the efforts of the PPA and MEDT to align their procurement systems with the WTO Government Procurement Agreement (GPA) and EU directives by training procurement officials from both countries on international best practices.  These efforts can lead to public procurement systems guided by the principles of transparency, open competition, efficiency and fairness, which can lead to increased opportunities for American business in both countries.
