Egyptian telecommunications regulators from the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority NTRA) met with their counterparts from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington, DC for a week of consultations on the development of telecom competition guidelines in Egypt. The delegation also attended a telecom competition workshop at the U.S. Telecommunications Training Institute. CLDP provided this technical assistance as a part of the ongoing collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Agency for International Development. In support of the US Government's efforts to assist with Egypt's economic development and promote an environment that encourages free-market based reforms, this event will help the Government of Egypt create a more globally competitive economy through the development of sound competition law in the telecom sector.
