Egypt Workshop on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence

Economic Court judges and prosecutors from all of the Economic Court jurisdictions in Egypt at the Workshop on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence

As part of its continued collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Justice, CLDP in cooperation with the National Center for Judicial Studies (NCJS) and the Ministry of Justice held two 2-day conferences on November 13-14 and 16-17, 2011 in Cairo for 230 Egyptian Economic Court judges and prosecutors from all of the Economic of the Economic Court jurisdictions in Egypt on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence. 

Conference participants examined cybercrime issues surrounding computers, mobile telephones, and the internet, and identifying and securing electronic evidence, recovering and preserving electronic evidence, establishing an investigation plan, and case management.  Additionally the program discussed the protection of privacy and the international cooperation needed to deter these crimes worldwide. 

The program was led by Stephen Gardner, Chief Counsel, CLDP; Brian Pearce, Assistant U.S. Attorney, Attorney's Office in Atlanta, Economic Crimes Section; and Judge Alan Baverman , U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Georgia while the Egyptian side is represented by  Justice Dr. Fathy El-Masry, Assistant Minister of Justice for the Egyptian National Center for Judicial Studies Affairs;  Justice Adel Fahmy, Director of the General Department for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Justice;  and Dr. Mohamed Saleh El-Alfy, Judge, Member of the Technical Bureau of the General Department for Specialized Courts at the Ministry of Justice.
