El Salvador: CLDP Organizes Reference Guide for Textiles Provisions of CAFTA-DR

CLDP, in coordination with USTR, CBP, and OTEXA, created a CAFTA-DR Reference Guide for Salvadoran textiles industry representatives that outlines the applicable rules and provisions related to textiles and apparel within the U.S.-Central America-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR). During a February workshop on the CAFTA-DR in El Salvador, many textile and apparel representatives requested access to a reference guide to help them navigate the Agreement. On April 14, the two-page reference guide was disseminated to CLDP’s internal database of 250 textile and apparel representatives in Central America’s Northern Triangle (El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras). With this CAFTA-DR reference guide, industry representatives from the Northern Triangle will be better equipped to benefit from the Agreement by sourcing materials within the trade area and strengthening the regional supply chain, thereby increasing the industry’s development and economic growth across the region. This reference tool is part of CLDP-USTR’s capacity-building program to improve regional prosperity by fostering human and institutional capacity to improve the competitiveness of the Salvadoran industry and enhance export opportunities along the full US-CAFTA-DR supply chain.
