At the request of the Government of Iraq, CLDP organized a two-day seminar in Dubai on international arbitration in cooperation with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre. The seminar focused on the role of international arbitration in attracting investment and took place in Dubai from April 1-2, 2012.  The Iraqi participants included senior legal advisors and judges from the executive, legislative and judicial branches.

The seminar provided the Iraqi participants with an insight into the lessons learned by countries in the region and throughout the world in enacting arbitration legislation, creating arbitration centers and enforcing arbitration agreements and awards.  As Iraq seeks increased foreign investment and trade with foreign companies, the issue of international arbitration has gained increased importance to the economic development of the country.
