From June 20 to 22, CLDP met with Maldivian government, private sector, and legal communities in a workshop on the import and operation of the country’s new electronic transactions law and to begin the process of drafting implementing regulations. Utilizing expertise from the U.N. Commission on International Trade Law and Bahrain Economic Development Board, the workshop assisted stakeholders to develop implementing regulations for the use of electronic signatures and other transactions by companies, individuals, and the government, which will improve the ability of all parties to enter into agreements and validate transactions, including court filings and applications.
