On October 21, 2020, CLDP held a virtual seminar on the topic of digital financial services with officials from the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) and other organizations of the Government of Pakistan, industry, and NGOs.

CLDP identified experts from the U.S. government, private sector, and academia to speak on cross-border financial transactions and digital payment systems. CLDP used this opportunity to encourage discussion among the speakers and participants about data governance and privacy issues.  These issues are relevant to Pakistnan’s proposed Personal Data Protection Bill because actions taken through that law or other decisions could  digital financial services negatively. This activity is part of CLDP’s technical assistance to Pakistan on Information and Communications sector legal and policy issues.
